Another update

FYI, if your TPS student is being assaulted, but the person doing the assault admits to it and says it's just a game, that is acceptable, or at least that's what we're being told. We now have a principal who wants to "investigate" the situation and even though we've been told she can't talk to this child without our child being present or before a referral has been written, somehow the principal spoke with this child sometime between 4:00 p.m. last night and 8:00 a.m. this morning. We're now being told that we're being threatening because of the fact that we don't feel this situation is being handled correctly. I tell you, something is SERIOUSLY wrong with this picture!

A zero tolerance policy should mean no matter what it's not tolerated.

Please tell me that no one's surprised by this tactic...

Put your lawyer to work and make good on your threats, otherwise you will be considered as just another whiney parent and treated as such.

Only when they realize that you are serious will they start paying attention.

My $.02

Kate,
Thankfully that officer was very helpful, and he was a witness to something that makes all of this very pivotal for us when this does go to court, whether or not he'll admit it is another thing, but only time will tell.

I agree 100% that it's rarely a teacher issue (except in the case of my youngest child) it's the administration and their inability to treat children equally in spite of their skin color.

lisa renee,
You would think that's how it "should" be, but it's not. In my eldests school the principal always picked and chose even if they knew that choice was the wrong one. They flat out told my husband that they would deal with this however they chose to no matter what the superintendant said, a blatent disrespect of not only their authority figure, but also the law. We'll have our day with them in court!

hooda,
This specific school all along has known that I'm NOT a pushover, but this time they simply went too far and not only violated our childs rights, but also the law. I'm more than willing to make good on my threats this time because no one should have to go through what we've gone through, PERIOD!
